toybox
time to meet some of my plushies :D

Pikachu

this was one of my spouse's childhood plushies! this pikachu is beautifully rotund in the style of classic 90's pokemon. they also have a little pull string that makes pika vibrate with excitement! this guy might be a bootleg, but the joy he brings me is the real deal! born ~1998-1999

Moomin

Moomin was a gift from my spouse and his parents for my birthday a couple years back :3 i would say this was probably sep 2019. he is a well loved little guy. the tag on his butt claims he is from the 'Sekiguchi' brand! born ~2019

Velvet Bunny

this was a gift from my brother!! this bunny is a lovely adoptee from a thrift store/goodwill if i recall, and i adore her little bow on her left ear :^)

Kenshiro

this was a gift from one of my dearest friends in college! he was found in a wal-mart around eastertime. i adore him, and as you can see he is well loved. At the suggestion of my friend he is named after the protagonist from the anime Fist of the North Star, but he also responds to 'Kensheepo' and 'Ken'. Born april 2018

Sheepsuji

i found this at wal-mart not too long after being gifted kenshiro; i've come to think of him as Kenshiro's younger brother.

Molly

Molly is the sentient doll companion of the main character of the children's show The Big Comfy Couch. I was a huge fan of this show when i was just a little baby guy, and this little friend was a gift from my maternal grandmother. I'm pretty sure she ordered this by phone from QVC or some other television shopping network, but I haven't been able to find another Molly doll anywhere online with this starry romper she wears. In fact, i can't find any screenshots from the show where she's wearing this outfit either. It's quite possible this was a bootleg doll, or maybe her original dress got damaged and was replaced by these cute starry overalls by my grandma or mother, but either way i always appreciated how special this version of Molly was. born ~1999

Sailor Moon

she is the one...Sailor Moon! This is an Usagi i've had for quite some time--at least since high school, if not middle school.

Cake Moth

this is a newer friend in my collection, a dear little guy from the squishables line of plushies! specifically, he is part of the Alter Egos series, called Cake Moth! i found this guy in a hobby shop while on a trip with my spouse last autumn. born november 2024

Porcelain Clown Doll

this was a hand me down from my mother, who collected porcelain dolls during my childhood. This is actually a porcelain doll with a music box integrated into it, a part of a series of dolls from creator Betty Jane Carter. It seems like clowns and jesters were pretty big from the 60s-80s, since both my grandmas also had similar decor.

my creations

Mousy
i made this friend when i was first getting into plushie-making a few years back, using a pattern intended for a mouse-themed pincushion. I never had the heart to stick any needles in this little fellow though, they're too cute! born ~2022

Dipple

this froggy fellow was my second foray into needlecraft/sewing plushies! he is entirely inspired by a post i saw on tumblr. I asked my spouse what his name should be and he said "dipple," thus Dipple was christened! born ~2022

Shnookums
i made this guy for my spouse as a christmas present a few years back; he is inspired by the little bear-hamster-mouse creature that we doodle on notes to each other, named Shnookums. I really wanted to bring Shnookums into the real world, and I think I achieved my goal!! I made sort of my own sewing pattern for this guy rather than following a template from the internet. I'm very proud of him, his heart shaped tummy pattern, and his scarf.

Molecule Shnookums

this sweet little friend is actually a test i did for creating Shnookums' head; though he was really just a demo, i felt compelled to draw a Shnookums-like face on him, and thus christened him 'Molecule Shnookums'. He is still hanging out on our TV stand next to Shnookums and Dipple!
