6/19/25: I have it listed on this entry that I started Seaglass Emerald in February, which is true, but I only started playing it in earnest around the end of April/beginning of May. This week I finally made my way to Evergrande City and to the Pokemon League. I managed to battle my way through the Elite Four only to get absolutely thrashed by Wallace. Taking my walk of shame, I realized my squad was lacking a grass type to fully stand against Wallace's team; before introducing my Togekiss into the team I had been training a Grovyle which I named Yoshi, so I have dedicated myself to a training arc to evolve Yoshi into Sceptile and level him up generally. I have been surfing around Sootopolis City dexnav chaining Kingdra for him to fight, which got him to level 50 pretty quickly. The rest of my Pokemon are hovering around levels 52 to 54, so he's catching up. But I think to more easily stomp the Elite Four and--hopefully--have to use less resources prior to Wallace, I should overlevel my whole team a bit. Thus, the training arc continues!
Yoshi the Sceptile
Ability: Overgrow. Nature: Naughty.
Met at level 5 on Route 101. Also received Effort Ribbon for being a hard worker :3c
6/21/25: i did it!!! after leveling up my whole team to lvl. 55 in the cave just before the pokemon league (shoutout to all the lucky egg plus max-repel dex nav-chaining Blissey fights i did) i was able to sail through the elite four. There was a true Lorenz sweep as they basically singlehandedly took out Sidney and Phoebe's teams
Wallace's fight was still a little tough--I think Sariel was the only one standing by his last Pokemon, but we made it through!!!! I was a little sad I had to bench Kazuma, but it all worked out and I'm so proud of my team

kaczynski the Voltorb
3/20/26: My Voltorb is a temporary addition to the party so they can use HM 'Flash' as I go through Rock Tunnel. I was oddly charmed by its FireRed Pokedex entry: "A life-form whose identity is unknown. It is said to SCREECH or suddenly SELFDESTRUCT." Like what do you mean a life-form whose identity is unknown?? Makes it sound like an alien. And that's one of the little quirks of early Pokemon that I really enjoy. There's a mysterious nature to a lot of the world.
Also, I named the Voltorb 'kaczynski' because 'libertarian' wouldn't fit.
It's always hard to choose the Kanto starter, but I have a pretty strong bias for the Squirtle line, particularly for Wartortle. I think the middle evolution Kanto starters are SO charming. Naming my Squirtle 'Nagisa' was a tradition that started in high school, when my boyfriend (now husband) installed an emulator for me on my laptop for the first time and I got to play FireRed all the way through. 'Nagisa' was a direct reference to my favorite character from the swimming anime 'Free!' which was big at that time. This playthrough was special to me because even though I was the perfect age for Gen 3 Pokemon games at the time of release, my family could either never afford them or never find them in stores for me, so I missed that whole train. Gen 4 ended up being my introduction to the actual games with Diamond, and I have immense fondness for them as a result. But I remember playing FireRed with a family friend's kid on the weekends while our dad's were hunting, and being like oh this is the coolest shit ever. I had already had a strong, strong interest in Pokemon since I was a toddler because of the anime, and I had Pokemon cards and Pokemon books and I think a Pokemon board game at some point, but never the games. Though I did end up getting a copy of Pokemon Sapphire from a friend in middle school that I would plug into my DS and absolutely fail to play all the way through XD
Other notes; my Butterfree is named 'Hoshina' after Utau Hoshina from Shugo Chara. Kadabra is 'Oblodra' after Kimmuriel Oblodra from the Legend of Drizzt novels, as he is a psychic (well, psionic; what's the difference?) elven man. Meowth is named Gougar after our cat, which ironically my husband did when he caught a Meowth recently as well! Juni isn't in reference to anything particular, I just thought it was a cute name.

FIELDS OF MISTRIA

I've been following Fields of Mistria through much of its early access and have enjoyed it immensely. When the third major update came out over the summer, I started a new save file so i wouldn't catch up with the new content too quickly, and have been playing that file on and off ever since.
Town Rank: Diamond
My character is named 'Ren,' but they're not really my sona anymore; I just kept the name to distinguish the save file. They're their own character now, some sort of he/they elf creature. They are currently romancing [spoiler character] and, as of very recently, Hayden. In my first save file I was romancing March, as I do love the gap moe of it all (cranky tsundere guy who is actually very sweet and has a mysterious, sad backstory). March is still one of my favorites, but there are so many good characters in this game! The designs are all so gorgeous.
My character's pet is based on Gougie, thus he is an orange cat. I have hella farm animals and am kinda overwhelmed by feeding them, which is why I was so pleased that the most recent update included autofeeders!!!
